Dr Hubert Etienne is a world-class scientist on AI ethics and human-computer interactions. He is the founding president of Quintessence AI and the chairman of the scientific committee of the Paris Conference on AI & Digital Ethics, the world's leading scientific conference on the ethical and social implications of AI. He has been teaching AI ethics and data economics for a decade in leading institutions (HEC Paris, Sciences Po, ESCP) and was visiting researcher at the universities of Columbia, Oxford, Stanford, Harvard, Montréal and Hong Kong. Dr Etienne has advised several government agencies, such as the US Federal Communications Commission, and is part of the EU AI Office's working group on transparency obligations under the AI Act, as well as the French Ministry of Justice's AI Observatory. Before founding Quintessence, he was Meta's Global Head of Generative AI Ethics, where he oversaw risk anticipation across all the company's products and developed governance frameworks and safeguards. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from both Sciences Po and Sorbonne University, and a PhD in AI ethics from Ecole Normale Supérieure.
Dr Jean-Marie John-Matthews is a renowned scientist in AI safety and the CEO of Giskard AI, a European leader in algorithmic auditing and vulnerability detection. Before founding Giskard AI, Dr John-Matthews was a data scientist at Thales and the holder of the Good in Tech Chair (Sciences Po & Institut Mines Telecom). He graduated from Ecole Polytechnique, ENSAE Paris and Paris School of Economics, and holds a PhD in responsible AI from Paris-Saclay University. He has taught mathematics, statistics and probability in various leading institutions, such as Sciences Po, Sorbonne University and Dauphine – PSL University.
Dr Giada Pistilli is an internationally recognised researcher in AI ethics and AI safety. As a model behaviour & safety architect at Mistral AI, she examines how cultural values and social norms shape the behaviour of AI systems, particularly LLMs and conversational AI. Before joining Mistral AI, she was Hugging Face's Principal AI Ethicist and a research associate at the Sciences, Norms & Democracy Lab (Sorbonne & CNRS). Dr Pistilli holds a Bachelor's degree from Università degli Studi di Teramo, a Master's degree from Sorbonne University and a PhD in AI ethics from Sorbonne University.
